The purpose of a vehicle’s air conditioning system is to remove heat from the interior so that only cooled or ‘conditioned’ air is circulated. This is achieved with a unique substance known as refrigerant, which can easily absorb heat as a gas and lose it as a liquid.

The air conditioner’s filters become clogged by cooling the air in your car. Sporadic use can lead to seals drying up and cracking, which makes them leak. The gas in a car air conditioning system will ultimately start to deteriorate or evaporate even if there are no leaks, which is the reason why it should be replenished periodically.
