Diagnostic tests use the car’s engine control unit (ECU), which can be found in most modern cars. The ECU utilises sensors to identify issues as they occur which generates a specific error code that indicates what the issue is and where it’s coming from.

A warning light may appear on your dashboard and can let you know there’s a problem, depending on what it is. The total extent of the issue is something that can only be gauged by specialist vehicle diagnostics equipment which reads the error code that trained technicians can use to identify the issue.

We use ODIS, the VW Group Diagnostic Tool used by the main dealer which includes adding/coding keys, replacing ECUs and control units, performing software updates, accessing technical bulletins (TPI) as well as having access to the full workshop manuals and the wiring diagrams.
